Da zog es uns ganz schnell aus dem Haus und wir sind zeitig Richtung NOKOMIS BEACH gefahren. Wir wollten uns von unseren Berlinern verabschieden und ich hatte mir vorgenommen, heute nochmal das Meer zu "durchpflügen" ! (Witzle gmacht )
Aber was war ??? Grosse Wellen, starke Strömung und die linke Seite deshalb sogar gesperrt.
Dann erzählten uns die Berliner, dass gestern Hai-Alarm war und alle Leute aus dem Wasser gepfiffen wurden - also da verging uns die Lust !
So saßen wir nur noch ein/zwei Stunden mit Gisela + Günter zusammen und sind dann auch schon vor zwölf Richtung Home.
Dort hatten wir Lunch aus unseren verbleibenden Lebensmitteln.
Knoblauch-Spaghetti mit Shrimps.
Immer noch strahlte die Sonne und die Temperaturen lagen sogar bei 29 Grad also nichts wie zum Pool und dort waren wir zeitweise wieder alleine. Herrlich das Wasser, aber da wiederhole ich mich.
Die Fußpflege stand heute auch auf dem Plan und konnte abgehakt werden.
Ebenso fuhren wir bei Helmut + Marianne vorbei, wo wir freundlicherweise wieder unsere Stühle und Schirme unterstellen dürfen.
Auch hier haben wir uns gleich verabschiedet. Leider hatten wir durch meine und dann Mariannes Erkältung wenig Gelegenheit zusammen zu sein - nächstes Jahr wieder, gell ?! Günter hat es euch versprochen, da seid ihr Zeuge.
Jetzt sitzen wir zuhause, ich räume weiter - morgen ist auch noch ein Tag.
Nur noch zwei Mal schlafen.

Ein Stück Geschichte ging an der Nokomis zu Ende.
Das kleine Dog, wo Boote anlegen konnten zum Snacks, Getränke und Fischköder aufzunehmen, war nicht mehr sicher und die Stadt entschied keine teure Reparatur vorzunehmen, sondern das ganze Teil wegzumachen. Mit grossem Geschütz waren sie vor Ort und die Umstehenden gaben immer wieder Ihrem Unmut und ihrem Bedauern Ausdruck, dass so ein Relikt entfernt wird.
Auch wir haben so manchen Pappbecher Kaffee dort getrunken.
Dazu schrieb die Herald Tribune:
VENICE -- The dock and observation deck at North Jetty Park will be permanently removed next week due to storm damage and the unsafe conditions they present for park visitors, Sarasota County said in a news release.
Both the dock and deck have experienced sustained damage from numerous storms in recent years, including Tropical Storm Colin in 2016 and Hurricane Irma in September. They also suffer continual pressure from the strong tides that run along the Intracoastal Waterway to the Gulf of Mexico.
The dock has been closed for nearly a year while staff evaluated its safety. Photos show the dock tilted. The wood supports are no longer embedded into the existing rock jetty, and the concrete supports are damaged from saltwater.
Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Director Carolyn Brown said: “We’re sad to see these popular and iconic structures go, but after much careful consideration and consultation with the West Coast Inland Navigation District and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, we’ve determined this is the only way to ensure the safety of residents and boaters.”
The dock removal is scheduled for Nov. 14 and will take approximately one day. The trolley will be closed both Nov. 14 and 15, but the North Jetty concession will remain open. The full concession will also be available at the park at 1000 S. Casey Key Road, Nokomis.
The jetty and seawall surrounding the existing, older concession will continue to provide ample space for park attendees to enjoy the waterfront. Ample docking space for boats remains available near the Nokomis Beach Plaza
